Course Summary: Administrative workers are an integral part of any office across industry. This hands on, intensive training program will provide students with the skills and knowledge needed for entry level employment in the administrative field. Course Summary: 
This intensive training program is conducted via Live, Distance education. Students will be provided unique usernames and logins to access NIT’s Blackboard and Blackboard Collaborate accounts. Training covers advanced tools and knowledge needed for employment in the administrative field. Students must have successfully completed Administrative Training Level One or show proof of required skill in the following areas: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint. This training includes hard and soft skills, including advanced computer skills, personal finance, budgeting, electronic file storage and creation, databases, and communication.

 This course provides an introduction to the basic principles of business writing. Participants will learn how to determine audience, purpose and message, as well as the key elements, functions, and types of business writing. Students will learn tips throughout that will help them convey information clearly and concisely for various documents including memos, trainings, reports, proposals, receipts, and contracts.

Career 101

Course Duration: 19 hours

Course Summary:
 Generations Southeast’s new Career 101 class offers hands-on technical training for students expanding their professional development. Participants will learn how to create effective resumes and cover letters as well as how to engage with hiring managers. Students will practice mock interviews and public speaking assignments, while also discussing workplace attire and etiquette. Upon course completion, participants will have a professional resume and draft cover letter. This is a 19-hour course facilitated over three days.

Child Development Associate (CDA)

Course Duration: 600 hours

Course Summary: The Child Development Associate (CDA) course will be delivered through a blended learning environment that includes direct coaching and instruction, online training, and early childhood classroom internships. Successful candidates will graduate with a national CDA credential and receive job placement assistance. Customer Service Training

Course Duration: 6 Hours

Course Summary: 

Generations Southeast is offering Customer Service Training in partnership with Tlingit & Haida’s ARPA Citizen Support Services Department.

Customer Service Training will offer firsthand training for participants to gain an understanding of best practices for customer service through a direct one-on-one interaction between a customer and a representative. Upon course completion, participants will understand how to build rapport with customers through emotional intelligence, customer service best practices and tips, along with commonly used administrative techniques and processes. This course is a six-hour, one-day session offered three times per year via teleconference as well as once in person.

Early Childhood Leadership (ECL)

 Students completing the Early Childhood Leadership series both understand and apply the importance of self-awareness and leadership roles, highlighting social and community impacts of their work. Early Childhood Leaders influence positive contributions to children, the early childhood workforce, and community through community impact. Leaders have the knowledge to incorporate 2-way feedback, assertive communication with coworkers, and application of trauma informed lenses toward diverse variations of leadership structures and styles, and apply them to their own lives.

 Generations Southeast is offering Financial Literacy Training in partnership with Tlingit and Haida Housing/HAA YAKAAWU Financial Corporation

Financial Literacy Training will offer firsthand training for participants to gain an understanding of best practice for Financial skills. This program is designed to support our tribal citizens while encouraging self-sufficiency to help build strong communities throughout Southeast Alaska. The overall goal is to instill hope in their financial situation while educating them with valuable information to make permanent healthy changes to their financial habits. This is done through creating a family budget, tips for saving, understanding your credit report, tips for improving your credit score, and tips to improve your financial health.

First Aid/CPR/AED Certification

Course Duration: 6 Hours

Cost: $175

Course Summary: 
This course will provide individuals in the workplace the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest, until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Upon completion, students will receive a Generations Southeast certificate and American Heart Association certification.

Pro Truck Driver 160 Hour / TD107

Course Duration: 160 hours

Cost: $15,000

Course Summary:
 This 160-Hour, 4-week program is available to students 19 years and older. Students will receive the training necessary to be successful as an entry level truck driver. The program begins with commercial license permit (CPL) preparation and FMCSA ELDT theory, during which students are prepared to test for their CLP. Once students have gained a CLP, they will continue to the driving range, street, and highway practical exercises. Every student will practice all of the skills necessary to safely operate a tractor trailer and successfully complete the CDL Class A road exam. Students learn and master turning, backing and shifting skills on an 80+ acre driving range. Once student drivers have gained experience and confidence on the driving range, the training continues with street and highway driving. All training including the FM CSA ELDT Lab/BTW is conducted in preparation of the Class A CDL road exam.

Wilderness First Aid

Course Summary:
 The Wilderness First Aid course will teach individuals the skills and knowledge necessary to recognize and respond to medical emergencies in a remote wilderness setting. Participants will learn how to assess and perform basic field care for common injuries and illnesses including fractures, sprains, and hypothermia. The course also covers improvised first aid techniques and communication, equipping individuals with the tools they need to confidently handle medical emergencies in challenging outdoor environments. Upon completion, students will receive a Generations Southeast certificate and Wilderness First Aid certification.
