ADMISSION PROCESS
Although the VTRC prioritizes training for federally recognized tribal members, it holds an open admissions policy for students of any race, creed, color and national or ethnic origin (18 years and older).
Application and Acceptance
Applications may be obtained and submitted anytime:
- VTRC Student Enrollment/Registration formsmay be downloaded and printed from the VTRC website http://www.vtrc.org. Return completed and signed forms to the VTRC, 3239 Hospital Dr., Juneau, AK 99801.
- Upon request, VTRC staff will fax, email, or mail enrollment forms and catalogs to you. Please contact the VTRC at 907-463-7375, or toll free at 1-800-344-1432, extension 7375; fax 1-888-762.5592.
NOTE:VTRC reserves the right to cancel any class if the minimum student enrollment isn’t met for that class. If a class is canceled, all deposits and fees will be refunde
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE
Applicants who do not complete their application or provide inaccurate or incomplete information will not be scheduled for training. If a person provides false information their acceptance will be cancelled. Tlingit & Haida tribal members applying for funding from Central Council’s Employment and Training program must return the VTRC enrollment form as verification of tuition assistance from Employment & Training. Upon receipt of this information, students will be notified of their acceptance to the class. VTRC will immediately notify non-tribal members of their acceptance.If you meet VTRC admission requirements and the entrance requirements for the specific program you want, you will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
If all positions in the program you want are full when we receive your application, you will be placed on a waiting list. You will be notified of your standing on the waiting list and contacted as soon as a position becomes available for you. When you are accepted into a long-term program, we will send you a letter of acceptance.
REGISTRATION
In order to enter a specific training program or to take a course offered at the VTRC, the following documents must be submitted:VTRC registration formEnrollment Contract if a course is 80 hours or moreAlthough we will accept registrations at any time prior to a class, students must be aware that tuition must be paid in advance.Notice: Training costs and dates are subject to change without notice. Class sizes are limited. Applicants are enrolled as space is available. The VTRC reserves the right to cancel classes with insufficient minimum student enrollment. Enrollment and Orientation
Each training program at the VTRC has a separate enrollment date. Students enrolling in classes six weeks or longer spend the first day in orientation. During this time students receive information on school procedures and services, obtain their program schedule and required program forms for the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A driver training program.
