This beginning welding course provides students with a foundational understanding of basic welding techniques and essential shop safety practices. Through hands-on learning, students will gain proficiency in at least two welding processes, enabling them to confidently work on welding projects in a shop environment.

Course Summary: 
Career 101 offers hands-on technical training for students expanding their professional development. Participants will learn how to create effective resumes and cover letters as well as how to engage with hiring managers by practicing mock interviews and public speaking assignments, while discussing workplace attire and etiquette. Upon course completion, participants will have a professional resume and draft cover letter.

Carpentry Fundamentals

Generations Southeast’s new Introduction to basic carpentry principles, tools, and techniques. The Carpentry Fundamentals course is designed to provide students with essential skills and knowledge in the field of carpentry. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on practice, and project work, students will learn basic construction techniques, tools, safety practices, and carpentry concepts that are crucial for a successful career in the entry-level construction industry.

The Child Development Associate (CDA) course will be delivered through a blended learning environment that includes direct coaching and instruction, online training, and early childhood classroom internships. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Course Summary:  
Generations Southeast’s new CERT Training provides individuals who complete this course the basic skills required to respond to their communities’ immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster, when emergency services are not immediately available. By working together, CERT volunteers can help save lives and protect property using the basic techniques in this knowledge required to prepare for and respond to a disaster.

Generations Southeast is offering Customer Service Training in partnership with Tlingit & Haida’s Customer Care Department. This course will offer firsthand training for participants to gain an understanding of best practices for customer service through a direct one-on-one interaction between a customer and a representative. Financial Literacy Training will offer firsthand training for participants to gain an understanding of best practice for Financial skills. This program is designed to support our tribal citizens while encouraging self-sufficiency to help build strong communities throughout Southeast Alaska. The overall goal is to instill hope in their financial situation while educating them with valuable information to make permanent healthy changes to their financial habits. This is done through creating a family budget, tips for saving, understanding your credit report, tips for improving your credit score, and tips to improve your financial health.

First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
Course Duration: 6 Hours
Cost: $50 (No Tax)

Course Summary
This course will provide individuals in the workplace the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest, until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Upon completion,
students will receive a Generations Southeast certificate and American Heart Association certification.

HAZMAT Awareness
Course Duration: 1.5 Hours

Course Summary : 
This one-hour course provides tribal community members with basic hazardous material awareness, focusing on recognizing and reporting spills, not responding to them. The training highlights the importance of protecting a community’s citizens and cultural resources. It covers how to identify hazardous materials, the health and environmental risks they pose, and the specific legal reporting requirements for Alaska. Participants learn who to contact in an emergency and what steps to take to protect themselves and others after a spill, emphasizing that personal safety comes first. The course is tailored to address unique, local hazards, such as those related to marine transport and climate change.


HAZMAT Standardized Awareness

Course Summary : 
This course provides
basic awareness-level training for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) hazards. Participants will learn how to identify CBRNE threats, utilize the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG), and understand initial actions to lessen injuries or property loss .
This training meets the awareness-level requirements of NFPA 470 (2022 edition), 29 CFR ยง1910.120(q)(6)(i), and the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP) .
Who Should Attend? This course is suitable for a wide range of professionals including  Building Maintenance personnel, Emergency Management, EMS, Fire Service, Law Enforcement, Public Health, and Security & Safety personnel.


HAZWOPER
Course Duration: 40 Hours

Course Summary : 
This 40-Hour HAZWOPER course is designed for workers involved in hazardous waste operations, including cleanup, emergency response, storage, disposal, and treatment of hazardous substances. The course covers protecting workers and the environment from hazardous chemicals, emphasizing safety and compliance with OSHA regulations, 29CFR 1910.120.
Upon completion, students will have a foundational understanding of safety and health hazards associated with hazardous waste operations. 


Introduction to Welding

Course Summary : 
The Introduction to Welding course equips participants with the fundamentals of knowledge and skills in welding techniques. Covering safety protocols, equipment operations, and practical hands-on exercises, this course provides a comprehensive introduction to welding processes such as arc welding, MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding, and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding. Personal Protective Measures for Biological Events

This one-day course prepares first responders and healthcare professionals to handle highly infectious diseases by focusing on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and contamination control in both prehospital and hospital settings. Participants will gain an overview of PPE, engage in hands-on activities, and review various decontamination methods.
Who Should Attend? This course is designed for a wide range of professionals including, but not limited to, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Service, Healthcare, Law Enforcement, and Public Health.
Upon completion, students can earn continuing education credits with the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) and International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM).

Wilderness First Aid

Course Summary : 
The Wilderness First Aid course will teach individuals the skills and knowledge necessary to recognize and respond to medical emergencies in a remote wilderness setting. Participants will learn how to assess and perform basic field care for common injuries and illnesses including fractures, sprains, and hypothermia. The course also covers improvised first aid techniques and communication, equipping individuals with the tools they need to confidently handle medical emergencies in challenging outdoor environments. Upon completion, students will receive a Generations Southeast certificate and Wilderness First Aid certification.
